Yorkshire like you’ve never seen it before……..
One of the UK’s biggest cycle races returns to our fair county from the 28th to 30th of April, 2017. The Tour de Yorkshire is organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) and Welcome to Yorkshire, as well as being supported by local authorities throughout the county.
Since its launch in 2015 the Tour de Yorkshire has grown to become one of the world’s most dramatic and best supported professional cycling races.
Every year this three-day UCI Europe tour event takes in some of the county’s most spectacular scenery and attracts some of the most famous names in the sport – with Sir Bradley Wiggins, Marcel Kittel and 2016 champion Thomas Voeckler having all competed on Yorkshire soil. The third edition promises to be equally spectacular and is a race not to missed!
This monumental race is a great reason to visit Yorkshire and call into our beautiful city as you are passing between the three racing routes.
Stage 1 is between Bridlington and Scarborough, Stage 2 starts in Tadcaster and finsihes in Harrogate, and Stage 3 is from Bradford to Sheffield. The overall route covers 490km! (And lots of hills!!!).
While the towns and cities on the three stages will no doubt be packed with some 2 million expected visitors, York will be just a short hop on the train or road from wherever you are and a great opportunity to escape the crowds once you have experienced the thrill of seeing these modern day heroes cycle past.
On all three dates and in fact for the whole month and beyond, you can choose from a number of cruise possibilities whilst enjoying a day out in York. A York City Cruise, an Early Evening Cruise or you could even try hand skippering at the helm of your own Self Drive Red Boat!
In fact, if you are visiting us over the course of the Tour de Yorkshire, take an extra 10% off the already discounted online price of either our York City Cruise or Early Evening Cruise by entering the promo code “tourdeyorkshire” when booking tickets online.
